Alexander: Is Dodgers-Padres a rivalry yet?
SAN DIEGO — It was well over three decades ago. The Dodgers and Padres had had a typical baseball skirmish, and afterward Tom Lasorda and San Diego infielder-pinch hitter Kurt Bevacqua traded barbs. Bevacqua, along with his manager, Dick Williams, accused Lasorda of ordering his pitchers to throw at hitters.
