Alexander: Game No. 1,000 is a winning moment for Jeff Carter

LOS ANGELES — This is next door to Hollywood, of course. The storyline, above all, is the thing. And the idea of Jeff Carter scoring the game-winning goal for the Kings on Saturday, in his 1,000th NHL game … man, that’s just too good to pass up.
“Hollywood fairy-tale ending,” Carter cracked Saturday afternoon, adding: “I thought you were talking about my career.”
No, not quite. Not yet.
Carter became the 341st player in NHL history to reach 1,000 games,
