Alexander: A long overdue honor for Paul Kariya

ANAHEIM — It was long overdue, the act of hoisting Paul Kariya’s No. 9 into the rafters of Honda Center alongside Teemu Selanne’s No. 8.
It finally took place Sunday afternoon, before the Ducks’ game against Buffalo. And the delay wasn’t an oversight on the part of the Ducks as much as it seemed to be a hesitancy on the part of Kariya.
“He is so humble and private, he almost thinks he doesn’t deserve the honor,” Selanne said during the ceremo
