Alex Verdugo’s rehab assignment ‘in a holding pattern’ due to back pain

LOS ANGELES — After one game with the Ogden Raptors, Alex Verdugo’s rehab assignment is “in a holding pattern” due to renewed soreness in his back.
Verdugo had three plate appearances for the rookie-level Raptors on Monday, walking twice. He did not play Tuesday and was scratched from the lineup on Wednesday with the back issue, a problem that has followed him throughout the season.
