500 homes face evacuations from Santa Ana River bottom fire in Norco

Five hundred homes – and some 1,500 people – were under evacuation orders on Tuesday, March 3, as a wind-driven fire broke out along the Santa Ana River bottom in Norco.
More than 200 firefighters fought the fast-moving blaze.
The Mann fire was reported at 9:51 a.m. and quickly grew from an estimated 10-to-15 acres to about 100 acres shortly after 11 a.m. No injuries or home losses were reported. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
