5 Freeway drivers: A fourth lane has opened on the northbound side

Caltrans on Friday morning opened a fourth lane on the northbound side of the 5 Freeway from Alondra Boulevard to just north of Imperial Highway. At that point, it narrows back down to three lanes.
After completion of the Florence Avenue interchange, the northbound fourth lane will extend almost to the 605 Freeway.
“We’ve had a lot of requests from the public, so we’re doing what we can,” Caltrans spokesman Marc Bischoff said.
