From Freddie Mac’s weekly survey: The 30-year fixed rate reached the highest sustained rate increase to start the year in the past 40 years. The 30-year fixed rate averaged 4.66 percent, 5 basis points higher than last week’s 4.61 percent. The 15-year fixed averaged 4.15 percent, worse by seven basis points compared to last week’s 4.08 percent.
