World’s longest tamale to be made in Belen

BELEN, N.M. (KRQE) – People in Belen are preparing to make the world’s longest tamale.
At this year’s Viva III at Belen Eagle Park, the community is teaming up to make a tamale 120 feet long this weekend.
Organizers say this year it will be a dessert tamale. That calls for more than 100 pounds of masa and 30 workers. They even have a special steamer made out of aluminum to cook the tamale.
