US Navy requiring climate change reporting from vendors
SUNNYVALE, California (AP) — The U.S. Navy says it will start leveraging its buying power to fight climate change.
Navy Secretary Ray Mabus told a Silicon Valley tech meeting Tuesday that the Navy would start requiring its vendors to report how much greenhouse gas their companies produce and then to work to lower those emissions.
Mabus says climate change is changing the responsibilities of the Navy as ocean levels rise and Arctic ice melts.
