‘Spur Fire’ spreads across more than 1,000 acres

LUNA, N.M. (KRQE) – The lightning-caused Spur Fire on the Quemado Ranger District of the Gila National Forest that started Tuesday is now 1,021 acres.
Fire officials say that on Sunday crews succeeded in securing the west perimeter to prevent the fire from spreading toward grazing lands and private property. However, moderate activity was seen on the east and south sides of the fire due to current hot and dry conditions.
There are no closure orders or trail restrictions in place.
