Small plane crashes in West Texas near state’s highest peak

GUADALUPE MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK, Texas (AP) – A single-engine airplane has crashed near the highest peak in Texas, causing an explosion and scattering debris across an area half a mile wide.
Elizabeth Jackson, a spokeswoman for Guadalupe Mountains National Park, says the plane went down late Tuesday afternoon in a rugged area near Guadalupe Peak where motorized vehicles are prohibited and that is accessible only by foot.
