Semi driver in fatal crash says he couldn’t stop in time

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – The driver of the semi-truck that crashed into and killed the chairwoman of the Santa Fe County Democratic Party says he could not stop.
Police say 59-year-old Susan Popovich was killed when her vehicle crashed into a semi-truck traveling on U.S. 285.
The Santa Fe New Mexican reports the driver told police he could not stop his 18-wheeler at a yellow light.
He said he flashed his headlights but Popovich kept going right into the intersection.
