Rio Rancho schools approve new rule regarding drug testing athletes

RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) – The Rio Rancho Public School board has unanimously approved a rule to create stricter penalties for student athletes who fail drug tests.
According to the Albuquerque journal, starting next school year, any student athlete who fails a drug test two times will be suspended from their team for the entire season.
Originally, students were only suspended for 45 days.
Rio Rancho Public Schools started administering random drug testing last July.
