Retired rocket scientist, pilot performs in first hometown show

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE)- He’s been flying for nearly 30 years, performing in air shows for more than 10. Yet, this weekend’s air show is different for one retired, local rocket scientist.
“It’s just in case anything were to go wrong,” Pilot Bob Carlton pulls a parachute from his cockpit and straps in.
“This is my engine throttle, it straps to my leg because there’s no place else in this cockpit to put it,” Carlton said with a laugh.
