Proposal aims to address problem of untested rape kits

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) – A proposal headed to the Albuquerque City Council aims to keep the city’s number of untested sexual-assault evidence kits from growing.
A proposal by Councilor Pat Davis outlines a series of deadlines that would require Albuquerque police to send new kits to the lab and have them tested in criminal cases.
Davis says he wants to prioritize cases so victims don’t have to wait.
