Officers in Boyd shooting seeks change of venue
ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – An Albuquerque police officer and former detective charged with murdering homeless camper James Boyd have asked to have their trial moved to Dona Ana County.
Attorneys say the move is due to the publicity surrounding the case.
Video from March 2014 shows the 38-year-old was shot as he turned away from former detective Keith Sandy and Officer Dominique Perez.
Defense attorneys say the officers shot Boyd because he posed a danger to police.
