New painting added among Highlands Depression-era murals

LAS VEGAS, N.M. (AP) – A new painting has been added among seven Depression-era murals that lined the lobby walls in Highlands University’s historic Ilfeld Auditorium.
Recent Highland graduate Dyna Amaya-Lainez painted the new piece after officials couldn’t locate a mysteriously missing mural. She painted a new mural based upon the clue from the missing mural’s plaque with the Francis Bacon quote “Reading maketh a whole man.”
