New Mexico wildfire season off to early, destructive start

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Wildfire season in New Mexico is off an early, destructive start, worrying fire crews around the state.
“Last year, this time, from the beginning of the year until now, we had about 50 fires,” Micaela Hester with NM State Forestry, said. “This year that has doubled; So far we’ve had over 100.”
Wildfires can spark in an instant and leave a massive, devastating path of burned and charred land.
Last year by this time, about 7,600 acres had bur
