New Mexico open primary bill moves through Senate

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A Senate bill that would allow independent voters to cast ballots in primary elections is moving forward. That’s according to the Santa Fe New Mexican.
It passed through a Senate committee Monday. But changes were shot down that would have allowed not just unaffiliated voters but also voters registered with smaller political parties to participate in Democratic and Republican elections.
