New Mexicans ask lawmakers to use ‘rainy day fund’ for education

SANTA FE (KRQE) – Rain is not in the forecast, but a lot of kids and others were carrying umbrellas Wednesday in Santa Fe.
They were trying to demonstrate that every day is a rainy day, referencing the State’s so-called rainy day fund.
They’re asking state lawmakers to withdraw money from the state’s $15 billion savings account for early education.
Each umbrella is inscribed with the message: “Invest in kids.”
