Lobo Women win, Shumpert reaches milestone

ALBUQUERQUE(KRQE) – Yvonne Sanchez and her University of New Mexico women’s basketball team put last week’s loss in the rear view mirror with a 71 to 57 drubbing of San Jose State Saturday.
Lobos guard Cherise Beynon led the way with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Khadijah Shumpert was right on her heels with 16 points and 9 rebounds.
Shumpert also entered rare territory with a career mark in points and rebounds. She now has 1,000 points as a Lobo and 500 rebounds.
