Jury deliberating in second trial in El Rancho killings

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) – Jurors are again deliberating the fate of a man charged in the slayings of an El Rancho family.
The Santa Fe New Mexican reports that jurors began deliberating on Wednesday after closing statements were made in the retrial of Nicholas Ortiz, who is accused of killing Dixie and Lloyd Ortiz and their special-needs adult son, Steven, with a pickax in 2011. The suspect was not related to the Ortiz family.
