Judge: Majority of accused cop killer’s statements cannot be used as evidence

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Most of the statements made to police by Andrew Romero, the career criminal accused of murdering a Rio Rancho Police Officer, will not be allowed as evidence in his upcoming trial, a judge ruled Tuesday.
Romero’s attorney was arguing the jury in his trial should never hear what he told police after the killing because his rights were trampled on.
