House panel approves bill to overhaul sentencing laws

WASHINGTON (AP) — In a rare bipartisan effort, the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday approved legislation that would make sweeping changes to U.S. sentencing laws, reducing prison time for some nonviolent drug offenders.
