Historic Desert Sands Motel catches fire again

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A historic Route 66 motel destroyed by fire in May, goes up in flames again. Firefighters were called to the Desert Sands Motel Sunday afternoon for a small blaze.
Albuquerque Fire officials say a passerby called 911 Sunday afternoon just before 3:00 p.m., after spotting the fire burning in the back of the motel.Once there they found a tire on fire in a small room. They also found evidence that a suspected homeless person was responsible for setting that fire. Th
