High court: Reaching behind screen was breaking and entering

SANTA FE (AP) – New Mexico’s highest court says window screens help provide protection against intruders other than just flies and that a man broke the law against breaking and entering by merely reaching behind a screen while trying to break into a home.
The state Supreme Court Thursday upheld Anthony Holt’s conviction stemming from an abandoned attempt to break into a Las Cruces woman’s home.
