Gov. Martinez won’t visit North Carolina convention

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) – New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez is canceling plans to travel to a state Republican convention in North Carolina amid controversy over a new law there affecting access to public restrooms by transgender people.
A spokesman for Martinez said Tuesday that the governor and chairwoman of the Republican Governors Association has a scheduling conflict and will be in New Mexico during the May convention.
