Forest Service volunteer honored with unique award

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE)– A volunteer with the Cibola National Forest and National Grasslands is being honored with a unique award.
Joelle Hertel has been volunteering to help restore the Juan Tabo and La Cueva picnic areas.
Both sites have suffered from vandalism and erosion.
Hertel has volunteered her time to help with several duties including trash pickup and graffiti removal.
She says this is an important project for the community.
