‘Fastest shrinking city’ in the nation found in New Mexico

FARMINGTON, N.M. (KRQE) – Farmington is the nation’s fastest shrinking city.
In an article in USA Today, researchers say the city’s population shrank by nearly nine percent over the last five years.
That’s faster than any other metro in the country.
Experts say shrinking areas mean there are likely fewer economic opportunities, which would attract new residents and encourage people who already live there to stay.
