Deputy remembered 10 years after deadly shooting

TIJERAS, N.M. (KRQE) – Ten years ago today Bernalillo County Deputy James McGrane Jr. was gunned down during a traffic stop in Tijeras.
On March 22, 2006, Deputy James McGrane Jr. pulled over wanted felon Michael Astorga. Astorga shot McGrane as he approached the truck. Astorga is serving life in prison at the State Pen near Santa Fe.
There will be a memorial for Deputy McGrane on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Tijeras right in front of the public safety complex now named in his honor.
