Cold start to the year then a warmer weekend

Temperatures are chilly across New Mexico with the New Year just a few hours away. A strong cold front moved through New Mexico last night. This led to a drop in temperatures across the state today. The temperature drop was strongest across eastern New Mexico. Some places saw temperatures 20 degrees colder today than yesterday. The cold front weakened as it moved further west.
