Carlsbad Caverns elevator work taking longer than expected

CARLSBAD, N.M. (AP) – A temporary shutdown of elevators used to transport visitors in and out of caves in Carlsbad Caverns National Park will last a day longer than expected.
The elevators were scheduled to be shut down for maintenance Monday and Tuesday and be back in operation Wednesday, but park officials say a subcontractor’s miscalculation means the elevators won’t be back in operation until Thursday.
