Bill that would give teachers pay raises in New Mexico moves forward
SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – House lawmakers have passed a bill to give New Mexico teachers a pay raise. The bill increases minimum salaries for level one teachers to $55,000 a year. It goes up to $65,000 for level two teachers and $75,000 for level three teachers.Lawmakers want to raise New Mexico teacher salaries by $5,000Lawmakers approved a pay increase in 2022, but the bill's sponsor said they were not enough to keep up with inflation. The bill now heads to the House.
