Albuquerque officials pass out backpacks, basic necessities to the homeless

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Albuquerque is lending a helping hand to the homeless.
The city says the homeless population is growing, and they don’t just need food and a warm place to sleep — they need hygiene products too.
So, the Department of Family and Community Services stuffed backpacks to the brim with blankets, granola, soup and cleaning products.
Teams are now traveling to homeless areas to drop off the backpacks.
