Albuquerque City Council to vote on bill to prioritize APD staffing

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – City councilors are voting on a push to give the Albuquerque Police Department everything it needs to become fully staffed and stay that way.
It comes in a bill that would make the mayor’s office accountable for hiring police officers.
The goal is to hire one thousand officers, but after the last graduating class, city officials say APD is still 150 officers short.
