Accused serial burglar makes court appearance

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A man charged with a string of burglaries appeared in court for a competency hearing.
Anthony Chavez has been charged more than a dozen times but has yet to be indicted.
In December, a judge found him incompetent to stand trial and ordered him to the Behavioral Health Institute in Las Vegas.
Chavez was in court Thursday so that a judge could determine his competency but both parties agreed on additional testing.
He’s scheduled back in court next month.
