78-year-old Clovis woman shot in the chest while answering front door, police say

CLOVIS, N.M. (KRQE) – A 78-year-old woman died after she was shot while she answered her front door in Clovis Wednesday night, according to the Clovis Police Department.The victim's 80-year-old husband called the police at 6:53 p.m. to report that his wife, Virginia Montoya, had been shot at the home on Traver Street. Montoya had a single gunshot wound to the chest and was rushed to the hospital before she passed away.Story continues below
