11 New Mexico airports get US grants for work, facilities

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) – Numerous New Mexico airports are getting a total of $6.5 million of federal grants for maintenance and construction projects.
The grants announced Wednesday by Sens. Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich will pay to rehabilitate runways, construct buildings and fences and make safety improvements at 11 airports across the state.
Gallup Municipal Airport is getting the largest grant — nearly $3.4 million for runway work.
