Juneau committee asks for additional sales tax on pot

Juneau’s Marijuana Committee has decided to recommend the Assembly consider an 8 percent tax on marijuana sales.
The Juneau Empire reports that committee members voted 5-2 Thursday in favor of the 3 percent tax on marijuana on top of Juneau’s regular 5 percent sales tax. The issue will be up for voter approval next fall if the Assembly approves the committee’s recommendation.
