Costco won’t sell genetically engineered salmon

Costco has been the target of a massive consumer campaign opposed to genetically engineered salmon.
The warehouse retailer had resisted joining Safeway and other major chains that committed not to sell GE salmon.
Now that the FDA has approved the gene-spliced AquAdvantage salmon for human consumption, Costco has shifted its position somewhat.
The Seattle Times reports that Costco issued a statement Friday saying it does not intend to sell the engineered salmon “at this time.”
