TIM, Google team up to launch 4K-ready Android TV decoder

(Telecompaper) TIM (Telecom Italia) has teamed up with Google to launch a new 4K-ready decoder based on the Android TV platform, giving customers direct access to videos, news and online games on Google Play. First mentioned in March, the new set-top box has a distinctive truncated cone shape and is closely integrated with the operator's video-on-demand service TIMvision. The device comes with 5GHz 802.11ac dual band Wi-Fi connectivity and a high-performance processor for fluid video streaming,
