Swisscom combines LTE FDD TDD for capacity boost

(Telecompaper) Swisscom has claimed a first in Europe with the use of tri-band carrier over LTE in both FDD (Frequency Division Duplex) and TDD (Time Division Duplex) modes. The demonstration used three carriers in two bands in a radio access network provided by Ericsson and commercial-grade chipsets from Qualcomm. The Swisscom Fussli shop in Zurich was the site of the commercial test.
