LG promotes home appliances chief to group CEO

(Telecompaper) LG Electronics has promoted Jo Seong-jin, the head of its Home Appliance & Air Solution division, to CEO of the entire company, effective immediately. A single CEO is a change in the company's management structure, as previously it had three top executives (of which Jo was one) answering to the board of directors. Jo (60) joined Goldstar in 1976, becoming part of the team which developed LG's first automatic washing machine in 1980.
