Trump’s $4.8 Trillion Budget Plan Would Cut U.S. Safety Net

(Bloomberg) -- President Donald Trump’s proposed budget includes $4.8 trillion in spending for fiscal 2021, with an increase requested for the Pentagon and substantial cuts to domestic and social safety net programs, but slow-walks plans to trim the deficit for a third year.The proposal, scheduled to be officially unveiled on Monday, includes $740.5 billion for defense and a 5% cut in non-defense spending, to $590 billion, in the year that starts Oct. 1, according to a person familiar with
