New York Officer Accidentally Runs Over 2 People on Beach

A Long Beach, NY, police officer in a pickup truck accidentally ran over a pair of beachgoers on Sunday night, officials said.The officer was on his way to the water's edge around 8 p.m. to warn swimmers there were no lifeguards on duty when his truck rolled over two people who were lying under a beach blanket.The two were taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, officials told the New York Daily News.
