Driven by new digital technologies, cities around the world are getting smarter in their approaches to managing municipal services and interacting with citizens.  And that’s a good thing, given projections that show we could add 2.5 billion people to the world’s already-burgeoning urban populations by 2050.[1] To keep our urban areas livable, workable and sustainable — three goals of the globally-focused Smart Cities Council — all cities need to become smart cities.
