Expense Data Shows Higher Business Travel Volume Despite Lower Cost Per Night

Recorded business lodging nights in Emburse’s 10 highest-volume U.S. cities rose 16.6% in the first half of 2026, but growth slowed to low single digits in summer. Higher travel volume, not higher nightly lodging costs, drove the increase in company lodging expenses.
