Straight Outta Compton: How NWA's new biopic reveals simmering tensions

On a Thursday in January, two of South Los Angeles’s favourite sons returned to the streets of Compton, where they grew up, to film a promotional clip for a film about their rise to fame. Dr Dre and Ice Cube, original members of the gangsta rap group NWA (“Niggaz wit Attitudes”), are also co-producers of Straight Outta Compton, the biopic named after their groundbreaking 1988 debut.
