Senate confirms Robert Califf as head of FDA

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate overwhelmingly confirmed President Barack Obama's nominee to be commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday despite frustration over the agency's response to the epidemic of painkiller abuse.
