Note to State Dept: Don't be so prickly

Having spent almost 25 years at the State Department, I'm pretty familiar with the need and importance of defending U.S. foreign policy. And I've spent my fair share of time standing up publicly supporting a range of policies, most of which I fully backed and even I few I didn't.
